What do we support?

THE VICTORIA WOOD FOUNDATION was set up after the death of Victoria Wood in April 2016.

Our support is mainly directed towards the arts - in the most general sense - and we are particularly keen to support causes which would have interested Victoria, and/or to support applications from the parts of the country in which she lived.  (Victoria was born in Prestwich and spent her early years in Bury, both towns in Greater Manchester.  She spent most of her adult life in North London, and also a lot of time in the Lake District and North Yorkshire.)

Please note that the Trustees will only consider applications from registered charities.  In general the maximum grant that the Trustees will award is £5,000.  They favour smaller charities where a modest donation can make a big difference.

The Trustees are unlikely to consider applications from/for:

  • Individuals
  • Courses of study
  • Expeditions or travel abroad
  • General appeals
  • In general, youth and community associations
  • Retrospective funding
  • Statutory bodies (including Education and Health)
  • Places of worship or which promote religion
  • Animal/Wildlife/Heritage/Environmental causes
  • Theatrical productions
