The Victoria Wood Theatre

The Victoria Wood Theatre (previously the Old Laundry Theatre) is situated in Bowness on Windermere, in the heart of the Lake District and presents a top-class programme of drama, classical music, folk, comedy and film.

In 2026 the theatre was renamed in tribute to the remarkable Victoria Wood - beloved writer, performer and comedian - whose wit, warmth and creative spirit have long been part of the fabric of the theatre's history.  Victoria was for many years a trustee of The Old Laundry Theatre, a role she enjoyed and valued.

The theatre was officially renamed by Sir Alan Ayckbourn in May 2026, and marked with the opening of a newly commissioned musical, Fourteen Again, featuring music by Victoria Wood and book by Tom MacRae.  The production celebrated Victoria Wood’s life, work and legacy, and enjoyed rave reviews from audiences & critics alike, playing for six weeks to sold-out houses.   Fourteen Again is moving to The Menier Chocolate Factory later this year, running from 21 November to 27 February 2027.  Tickets are on sale at the theatre box office.

The Victoria Wood Theatre continues to present a rich mix of drama, comedy, music and storytelling – along with an Alan Ayckbourn play in every season - the very things that have made the theatre such a special place for over three decades. Visit The Victoria Wood Theatre web site here
